Alex Nikesch
Owner / Lead Designer
Alex is passionate about building regenerative communities. While living abroad in Asia, he was exploring more sustainable ways of living and discovered permaculture. He studied living examples of permaculture at work in traditional rural farms and urban gardens throughout Asia while he was establishing his own gardens and food forests in the mountains of Fujian. He studied permaculture design at the Permaculture Research Institute of Australia with Geoff Lawton, soil biology with Dr. Elaine Ingham, and studied and practiced various types of multi-strata successional agroforestry systems in Central America.
After Alex moved back to the US he helped establish the Southwest Florida Permaculture Guild. Alex is currently advising for schools and nonprofits, teaching permaculture and forest gardening at Florida Gulf Coast University, and helping people design their homesteads and farms with his company, Edulis Designs. He is also stewarding his own quarter acre property as an example of what can be done on a small suburban lot.
